Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro has ordered entry to X blocked for 10 days amid a web-based spat with its proprietor Elon Musk and a clampdown on dissent over his disputed re-election.
Maduro, a self-regarded revolutionary socialist, has accused Musk of selling protests triggered by the election, portray the billionaire and the unrest as a part of a US-backed “fascist, imperialist” coup try in Venezuela.
“He has violated the foundations by inciting hatred, fascism, civil battle, demise, confrontation of Venezuelans and has violated all Venezuelan legal guidelines.” Maduro in a speech on Thursday evening.
Maduro mentioned Venezuela’s Nationwide Fee of Telecommunications will “take away the X social community, beforehand generally known as Twitter, out of circulation in Venezuela for 10 days”.
