Matt Reeves began to create a complete universe with the discharge of 2022’s The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson because the Caped Crusader.
The filmmaker is increasing the world with The Penguin, an HBO authentic sequence centered on Colin Farrell’s Oz Cobb, which is able to premiere on the premium cable community and Max in September.
In a brand new interview with Leisure Weekly, Reeves explains why two sequence he had been growing, set in what he calls the Batman Epic Crime Saga, had been canceled for now.
“As we had been writing the film [The Batman], I used to be like, ‘Hey, you recognize what? I believe there are some cool exhibits that we may do,” Reeves informed EW. “It was really why I needed to make our deal at Warner Bros.”

Reeves and producing companion Dylan Clark had been engaged on a few sequence, one specializing in the Gotham Police Division and a second set within the Arkham Asylum. HBO executives gave Reeves notes and the filmmaker stated that some parts will likely be making it into The Penguin.
“They had been like, ‘We like what you’re doing, and we wish to lean tougher into the marquee characters,’” Reeves stated.
He continued, “What’s attention-grabbing is that, within the film, the large crimson herring of the story is it looks like the individual they’re searching for, that the Riddler’s pointing to should be the Penguin, some form of informant. This film creates an influence vacuum, and since Penguin is so underestimated, individuals don’t actually see who he’s.”
Reeves stated he “needed it to be, not in a grandiose means, however in a mythic Shakespearean means, this sort of nice story.”
